Encountering Meister Eckhart, the "Dangerous Mystic", the "Dangerous Mystic"

 Eckhart von Hochheim, better known as Meister (Master) Eckhart (1260-1328 A.D.) was a German theologian, philosopher, and mystic. Eckhart believed that virtually all human concepts of God tell us more about ourselves than about God. God is not an old man, or humanlike, or even a he. God is not good or wise or just--those are all human attributes. God, he explained, is not a being, or a supreme being out there, but Being--existence--itself. Filled with paradox, Eckhart's teaching is not always easy to understand, but you are invited to delve deeply into his spiritual wisdom--a wisdom that influenced people as diverse as Martin Luther, Dag Hammarskjold, Erich Fromm, D.T. Suzuki, Thomas Merton, Eckhart Tolle, and Matthew Fox. The series will run on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 7:45 beginning on September 12th.
